Pick up your printed copy of Mathildedal LIFE 24/7
Gardi Oy, a manufacturer of smart parcel lockers, has installed a smart locker in the village where you can pick up a copy of Mathildedal LIFE at any time of day.
Are you someone who prefers reading magazines in print? Someone who feels that reading is not quite the same without the feel of paper, its smooth surface and the shape of the magazine in your hands? We have good news for you: Mathildedal LIFE is also available in print.
Best of all, you can pick up your own copy of the magazine from the smart locker around the clock. The locker is located outside Restaurant Terho, and it can be opened by entering Mathildedal’s postcode, 25660.
The locker for the village’s own magazine was provided by Gardi Oy. Based in nearby Perniö, Gardi is a pioneer of household smart mailboxes in Finland. The mailboxes are the size of a standard letterbox and are manufactured in Finland.
The smart mailbox is equipped with a digital lock and can be opened using a PIN code. The code can be shared, for example, when placing an online order, allowing deliveries to be left securely even when you are not at home.
“Gardi acts as your personal parcel locker,” says Petteri Heiman, CEO of Gardi Oy.
The PIN code can also be shared with a neighbour while you are away on holiday, for example. The idea for the mailboxes came about when Heiman’s previous laundry service business repeatedly encountered challenges with deliveries.
“Delivering laundry to customers was particularly challenging in detached houses. Either the customer or we were running late, and there was nowhere to leave the laundry unless someone was there to receive it,” Heiman explains about the early days of the smart mailbox.
With a smart mailbox, there are no similar problems.
“The mailbox can be opened either with a PIN code or a tag. The app records a timestamp showing when an item was picked up and by whom. PIN codes can be changed at any time, and different levels of access can be created. One code can be for personal use, for example, and another for neighbours.”
Gardi also manufactures smart padlocks and smart key safes that operate on the same principle.
“They are all weather-resistant, and the option of backup power ensures they work year-round.”
The locks and key safes can be accessed via an app, a PIN code, an access card or a traditional key.
“They also work with fingerprints. There is no need to worry about losing your keys,” Heiman points out.
Access rights are managed through the app, which also allows users to monitor the access history in real time.
“In a place like Mathildedal, where many people have second homes, both smart mailboxes and key safes can be very useful. People often order something to their holiday home and then get stuck in traffic, for example in the Helsinki region. It doesn’t matter if you’re running late when the delivery is waiting safely in a smart mailbox,” Heiman says.
